Ross Avant es un compositor, músico, cantante, dramaturgo, poeta y actor autodidacta y polifacético. Después de haber visto a Sir Elton John en VH1, Avant quedó fascinado con el piano y comenzó a estudiar seriamente el instrumento. Ya era un cornetista y trompetista experimentado, y unos años más tarde, a los quince años, hizo su debut profesional actuando con la mundialmente famosa Jim Cullum Jazz Band, en el legendario club de jazz The Landing. Avant hizo su debut en el Carnegie Hall en la temporada 2021/22.

Cuando tenía veinticuatro años, hizo su debut como actor profesional en The Playhouse en San Antonio, TX, como Tom/Jim en el estreno en San Antonio de la obra ganadora del premio Pulitzer y Tony de Bruce Norris, Clybourne Park. También ha trabajado en varios programas de televisión y películas, entre ellas Succession de HBO, The Kitchen protagonizada por Melissa McCarthy, The Irishman dirigida por Martin Scorsese, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon) y The Trial of the Chicago 7 escrita y dirigida por Aaron Sorkin.

En 2017, grabó su primer EP, Dream of Surrender (prod. Mark Sinko), y su próximo álbum, titulado Running Across America (prod. Ted Young), se lanzará en el otoño de 2019. Avant teje hábilmente el una sátira social subversiva al estilo de Randy Newman y las maravillosas y reflexivas melodías de un maestro como Elton John en un tapiz resplandeciente; repleto de fascinantes ganchos pop y fortalecido con el estilo de piano característico de Avant. Su obra popular es una exploración exhaustiva de la música estadounidense que abarca una amplia gama de géneros, desde rock, pop, blues, R&B y funk hasta soul, jazz y americana.

Además, Avant se ha dedicado con entusiasmo a grabar sus obras de concierto. Actualmente está trabajando en un álbum de piezas originales para piano solo, un álbum de piezas para piano y cuerdas, un álbum dedicado a sus suites para violonchelo, un álbum de sus estudios para piano y nocturnos y está escribiendo su primera ópera. La música de concierto de Avant es una combinación intrincada y conmovedora de minimalismo, serialismo, pop, jazz e improvisación. También ha compuesto música para teatro, incluidas dos producciones en The City Theatre Company (Austin, TX): Cyrano de Bergerac (dir. Jeff Hinkle) y The Taming of the Shrew (dir. Levi Gore).
 
Además de ser artista a tiempo completo, Avant tiene títulos en religión y filosofía de la Trinity University (BA) y la Universidad de Edimburgo (MSc). Ross Avant is a multitalented and autodidactic composer, musician, singer, playwright, poet and actor. After having seen Sir Elton John on VH1, Avant became mesmerized with the piano and began earnestly studying the instrument. Already a seasoned cornetist and trumpeter, he made his professional debut performing with the world-renowned Jim Cullum Jazz Band a few years later, aged fifteen, at the legendary jazz club, The Landing. Avant made his Carnegie Hall debut in the 2021/22 season.

When he was twenty-four, he made his professional acting debut at The Playhouse in San Antonio, TX as Tom/Jim in the San Antonio premiere of Bruce Norris' Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning play, Clybourne Park. He has also worked on various television shows and films including HBO's Succession, The Kitchen starring Melissa McCarthy, The Irishman directed by Martin Scorsese, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon) and The Trial of the Chicago 7 written and directed by Aaron Sorkin.  

In 2017, he recorded his first EP, Dream of Surrender (prod. Mark Sinko), and a forthcoming album, entitled Running Across America (prod. Ted Young), is set to be released in the fall of 2019. Avant skillfully weaves the subversive, social satire à la Randy Newman and the thoughtful, gorgeous melodies of a master like Elton John into a resplendent tapestry; replete with arresting pop hooks and fortified with Avant’s signature piano style. His popular work is an exhaustive exploration of American music covering a wide breadth of genres from rock, pop, blues, R&B, and funk, to soul, jazz, and americana. 

Furthermore, Avant has eagerly moved in to recording his concert works. He is currently working on an album of original pieces for solo piano, an album of pieces for piano and strings, an album dedicated to his cello suites, an album of his piano études and nocturnes and he is writing his first opera.  Avant’s concert music is an intricate and stirring amalgamation of minimalism, serialism, pop, jazz and improvisation. He has also composed music for the theatre including two productions at The City Theatre Company (Austin, TX): Cyrano de Bergerac (dir. Jeff Hinkle) and The Taming of the Shrew (dir. Levi Gore).  

Avant has degrees in religion and philosophy from Trinity University (BA) and the University of Edinburgh (MSc)  and is a member of AEA, SAG-AFTRA, BMI, The Society of Composers and Lyricists, The Society of Composers, Inc., The Ivors Academy, and  The Songwriters Hall of Fame.
